|
Kwirebero

Problem/ Context

The Bright Future School project aims to improve access to quality education for children in Kwirebero, in the Nyabikokora cell, Kirehe district, Rwanda.
Some children have to walk several kilometres to get to school. The construction of a new nursery and primary school will bring education closer to families and provide children with a safe learning environment tailored to their needs.

Detailed project description

The Bright Future School project aims to build a nursery and primary school in Kwirebero, in the Kirehe district of Rwanda.

Some children travel long distances to get to school. We wish to build modern classrooms and toilet facilities, and to provide a quality education for around 200 children, with qualified teachers and IT equipment. We are seeking financial and material support to carry out this project.

School image description

For the past three years, we have been renting a room and space to house our preschool.
We started with 40 students and now have 80. We serve students in the younger, middle, and older preschool classes, as well as a special education class designed to support children who left public school at a very young age, as well as those facing learning challenges, to help them overcome them.
With our limited resources, we are struggling not only to build our own school but also to accommodate more students.

The school’s two buildings are unfinished and dilapidated; they have 4 and 2 classrooms, respectively, for a total enrollment of 357 students. There are more than 65 students per class. The desks and benches are broken and insufficient. Three or more students sit on each bench instead of two.

ESTABLISHED in 2000. I have been running this school for three years now. But there are no amenities for these students. Under the previous principal, enrollment was at a maximum of 90 students. When I arrived, after giving the school a few coats of paint, I had 120 students in the first year, then 180, and 187 this year.
