Expansion of 6 new classrooms and Relocation - BRIGHT TRUST ACADEMY

Rwanda
|
Kanyamatembe Village, Kabujenje Cell

Problem/ Context

BRIGHT TRUST ACADEMY is an existing private school located in Kivumu Sector, Rutsiro District, Western Province, Rwanda.

The school currently provides nursery education to 71 learners using three small classrooms. The existing facilities are insufficient to accommodate additional learners and support the planned expansion into primary education. The school has acquired a new plot of approximately 2,155 square metres in Kanyamatembe Village, Kabujenje Cell, Kivumu Sector.

However, additional financial resources are required to construct classrooms and supporting facilities, provide adequate sanitation, extend the water supply, install electricity and purchase essential school furniture and educational materials. Without additional support, the school will face difficulties expanding its capacity and providing an appropriate learning environment for more children in the surrounding community.

The project proposes the construction of six classrooms, sanitation facilities, a teachers' room, an administration office, a storage room and a library. It also includes extending the water supply pipeline by approximately 700 metres, installing electricity, purchasing student desks and chairs, providing books and teaching materials, and constructing a perimeter fence with an entrance gate. The school currently serves 71 nursery learners and aims to accommodate approximately 180 additional learners, bringing the target enrolment to about 251 children, subject to available capacity and the required authorisations.

The total preliminary estimated project budget is RWF 260,609,822. This estimate covers construction, utilities, furniture, educational resources, transport and a contingency allowance. Final costs will be confirmed through technical assessments and quotations from qualified contractors and service providers. The project aims to improve access to education, create a safer and better-equipped learning environment, and support the planned introduction of primary education for children in the surrounding community.

Manatido Nations Chapel Mission School was established in 2020 in Manatido, Tatale-Sanguli District, Northern Region, Ghana. The school currently serves 207 children but faces challenges with classroom space, desks and chairs, textbooks, and teaching materials. These challenges affect the learning environment and the quality of education available to the children. We are seeking support to construct additional classrooms, improve existing facilities where necessary, and provide essential educational resources to create a better learning environment for all 207 students.

The needs are much greater than what I can continue to carry alone. Our current needs include additional classrooms, desks and chairs, textbooks and school supplies, support for children's meals, toilets and sanitation facilities, playground equipment, and transportation for children who live far from the school.

TESTIMONI SPECIAL SCHOOLS NGBO LTD is experiencing increasing pressure on its existing classroom facilities as the number of students continues to grow. The school currently serves more than 600 students from JSS1 to SS3, with further admissions expected during the current term.
‍
The existing classroom facilities are not sufficient for the growing student population. Some of the available learning spaces are also below the standard learning environment the school seeks to provide, including classrooms with bare or sandy floors and open-sided conditions.

This shortage of suitable classroom space is becoming an important challenge to the school's ability to provide an adequate and comfortable learning environment for all its students. Without additional classrooms, continued growth in enrollment will place further pressure on the existing facilities.

The school therefore seeks support for the construction of additional permanent classrooms to increase capacity and provide students with a more suitable environment for teaching and learning.
